Professional Medi-Cal Specialist Karl Kim, CFP®, CLTC

Karl Kim works with Californians who are experiencing a health care crisis, and also provides planning assistance to help individuals and families avoid the consequences of such a crisis in the future.

Mr. Kim is a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®). He is also Certified in Long-Term Care (CLTC), Medi-Cal Specialist, as well as a California Licensed Insurance Broker (#0810324), Investment Advisor Representative, Registered Principal and Registered Representative with Triad Advisors, Inc. of Norcross, GA.

He has written extensively about the importance of planning ahead in order to correct the mistakes commonly found in many retirement, insurance and investment plans. His articles have been published in the Rafu Shimpo, Gardena Valley News, Peninsula News (Palos Verdes), and the Pacific Citizen. He was also quoted in the May, 2009 and April, 2013 issues of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine.

Over the years, his office has submitted more than 1000 Medi-Cal applications, and countless re-determinations and recovery notices to the Medi-Cal Department – with outstanding results. Mr. Kim works with a network of estate planning attorneys and CPAs to provide a total solution to a person’s long-term care and retirement planning needs.

Active in the Japanese-American and Hawaiian communities in Los Angeles and Orange County, Mr. Kim has volunteered in various capacities for Keiro Senior HealthCare. He is a former member of the Board of Directors for the Japanese Retirement Home, former member of the Advisory Council of The Friends of The Institute for Healthy Aging at Keiro, former member of the Development Committee of Keiro and also a former member of Friends of Keiro (fundraising committee).

Karl is married and the father of two. He and his wife reside in Orange County, CA. He is an avid golfer.

Jamie Nikami Ta has been our Administrative Assistant since 2012. She received her Master’s degree in Asian American Studies from Cal State Long Beach, her Bachelor’s degree from Occidental College in Los Angeles, and a certificate in Geriatric Care Management from the University of Florida.

In her free time she enjoys playing volleyball, going to Disneyland, and shopping at her favorite store: Target. Originally from Seattle, she currently lives in Brea, CA with her husband and two dogs.

Jamie knows that when it comes to planning your retirement, staying organized and proactive can seem tedious and tiresome. She will help to make sure you stay on top of everything so you can meet your financial goals and follow through the process from start to finish.
